As a student of history, I look at the cultural history of America and noticed that America's moral decline began in 1963, when prayer and Bible reading was taken out of the public schools. America's moral decline started with the removing of God's Word in the schools. From that point on, the youth at that time were no longer being regularly exposed to the Word of God.
Once God's Word was no longer a regular part of life, the youth turned to drugs, eastern religions, promiscuity, and rejected conservative values of previous generations. This was known as the hippie movement and to this day, the consequences still affect the culture. Now immorality in America has been at an all time high. America currently is the number one exporter of pornagraphy in the world.
In previous posts, I mentioned that continual unrepentant immorality will eventually bring about judgment on this nation. When God's Word and God's presence are absent in a society, then eventually crime, lawlessness, immorality, an darkness will be more prevalent. But having God's presence invade a society brings redemption and positive change in society.
As I've been looking how things started to go wrong in America's morality, I still see a redemptive hope in restoring the Word of God to the public life. If by some miracle, prayer and Bible reading is brought back to the public schools, then we can see positive changes in the youth. But really the important thing is for the young people in this nation to get rooted and grounded in the Word of God. I truly believe that restoring God's Word will be a crucial step in fixing this country towards the right direction.
